Help and Advice - Q's & A's

Here are some of the questions that I am often asked about the services I offer on my site along with the answers I have given. How do I order a portrait?

To order your portrait(s) you need to first choose the type of portrait you wish to order from either pastel or pencil and the amount of people you would like in the portrait. Once you have decided you can then order your portraiton the pagesizes and prices - buy now!. After you have done that e-mail me the photo(s) you would like me to draw from to amijohnstonart@hotmail.co.uk. In the E-mail please include your name, address and a contact telephone number so that I may contact you to discuss your portrait. You might also like to leave instructions as to how you would like the portrait drawing, for instance the layout of the subjects in the picture etc. I shall keep you updated on the progress of your portrait via telephone and you will be contacted when it is completed. All portraits will be delivered in a postal tube along with a receipt of purchase and if you have sent me your photograph(s) either through the post or via e-mail you will receive them along with your completed portrait.

Can you draw my portrait(s) using more than one photograph?

Yes, I can take different people from several separate photographs and add them to one portrait for you. Remember though that all pictures need to be a reasonable size and clear enough for me to draw from so that you get the best quality and detail in your portrait

Will I get the photos back that I have sent you?

Of course! Your photos will be be sent back to you along with your portrait(s), in the same condition that I received them. I take the greatest of care with your photographs as I know that they are very personal to you. Also if you send me your photos by email you will receive a printed off version of the photo(s) you sent me.

Is there a postage and packaging fee?

Yes there is a small postage and packaging fee which varies on the price of your portrait.
Portraits up to the value of £100 will be sent by 1st Class Recorded Signed For Post which is £2.60 p+p and will automatically be added to your total amount to pay in the checkout. Portraits that are over £100 and up to £150 will be sent via Special Delivery Next Day Post and in normal circumstances will be delivered by 1pm the next working day. This is £5.00 p+p and will also be automatically added to your total amount to pay in the checkout. Portraits that are over £150 will be sent free by Special Delivery Next Day Post!

Do you frame the pictures?

No I don't frame the portraits. Personally I think it makes more sense for you to purchase your own frames for a number of reasons. Firstly, if I framed the portraits there would be the cost of the frame and the added weight would vastly increase the P+P fee ontop of what you are paying for your portrait. This then makes it more expensive for you. There is also a safety issue when you receive your package with the portrait as I cannot guarantee the glass has not broke while in transit. You also need to take into account your own personal preference as I myself won't be able to decide what style of frame suits your decor or that of the person you are buying it for.

Displaying your photos on the site.

Before I display your portrait(s) on the site I will ask your permission if you are happy for me to add your portrait to our gallery. The idea of our gallery is to show our customers the quality of the work I produce and to help them choose their portrait.

How long will it take before I receive my portrait?

You will receive your picture within one week after purchase. If you require your portrait to be completed by a certain date please inform me and I shall ensure you receive it as soon as possible.
